Hong Kong

Postby ChrisB » Tue Feb 23, 2010 9:07 pm

I heading up to HK in April and was just curious what the diving is like? I'm only gonna have a short window of opportunity as its a family wedding, plus a 5 day trip into China... won't be diving there though.
I'm not sure exactly where we're staying yet, but any advise would be welcomed

The only relevant info I have is that there was a technical diving shop in Aberdeen, which is on Hong Kong Island. I suggest googling some shops and then maybe emailing them directly?

There's www.scdc.org.hk

This is a club by the look of it. Let me know how you get on :)

Chris,
You obviously looked at the SCDC website since we've spoken via email.

The tech diving shop in Aberdeen is Mandarin Divers, but they have moved to Central. info@mandarin-divers.com should reach them. Their main tech guy is now based in Puerto Galera, Philippines.

Enjoy your time here,
Neil

You could also try going via www.direxplorers.com and search Graham HK under members and you should find Graham Blackmore a GUE instructor based in HK. You could PM him through that board and I'm sure he'd be happy to hook you up as he's a hell of a nice guy,

Cheers

Yes, Graham's a good bloke and may well be worth talking to.

Splash, up in Sai Kung, could also be worth approaching - http://www.splashhk.com

(or you could try and get a ticket for the Sevens instead!)

Thanks Neil nd others for you replies.... having now been to HK we got so busy with my bro's wedding and all the preplanned events that i sadly didnt end up having the time, money, or travel to get where i wanted to go. Will have to make it another trip. Splash HK were more than happy to assist with any enquiries.
