Hi, I'm Chelsea...

Postby Jason » Mon Jan 11, 2010 10:35 pm

Hello everyone at ScubaDive New Zealand :D :!:

My name is Chelsea Rain Cook and I was born at Campbelltwon Public Hospital at 18:33 hours upon the 3rd of January (Capricorn) 2010. I could have been born upon New Years but the ward was packed full of desperados being induced for the $10,000 as it was and personally, I'm a girl who do things when I'm ready. 8) My middle name was given to me by Mum and Dad because it was a beautiful day and night of cool gentle rain which has resulted in much green grass everywhere after a month or two of dry dusty lack of. Its nice to know that there is something out there I can 'naturally' relate too.
My weight was 7.3 pounds and a length of 49cm with my looks mostly taken from my father (but I am a much better looking version  ) but I am definately like my mother ...thankfully  . My Daddy is really impressed with my large split-fin paddle feet (8 and a half centimetres) and he can't wait to take me Diving and swimming if I so choose too. I have a big brother but he is really strange looking but Daddy said its because he has 'dogs disease'. Oh well. :?
I love the fact that I was named after a wonderful Lady-Diver called Chels (Chelsea) - I can't get any better than that! :D Daddy does find it a bonus to place a Chelsea Soccer scarf upon my Hospital room door much to the amusement of many and he says they are at the top of the English Premier League and will win this season's FA Cup but I don't think I will be awake at 1:00am to watch it with him
Went for a stroll around our local Duck Pond with Mum, Dad and my strange looking big brother but although the viz was clear and clean, Daddy says I need to be 'certified'. :? to go for a dip. Which I then decided to have a big cry and wet my nappy instead. Well enough said for now and now for a photo.

Thanks heaps and heaps guys. :D
Daddy is indeed a very happy chappy.
Mum is doing well although still a bit stiff and sore. I am so proud of my wife and it is a moment I will never forget...luckily one of the midwives asked if I had brought a camera (I always carry one around by chance anyway) as I was so in the 'moment' that Photos were the last thing on my mind, by which she took some ok memorable shots thankfully. With my wife being an Employee of the Hospital, I got to experience how well liked she is there and how well treated and cared for she was.
My wife wants another child (she mentioned today  ) but I said "...not until I make something of myself first" (SuperFin, Novel, Art or Straw Bale Houses, etc/whatever :?: )"...and the good fortune that comes with it." :!: (*or all)

Although late in life, I'm glad I decided to become a Father.
Thankyou everyone for your help in choosing Chelsea's name - everbody over here loves it!
Cheers

Thanks again. :D

EPILOGUE

Well my new 'family' and I went for a drive down to Bass Point (ShellHarbour), just south of Wollongong. There were Dolphins at the Gravel Loader but I accepted that my wife and child needed a more comfortable place to spend an hour while I dived. So I settled for The Gutter. Having geared up, my wife decided to check nappy before I went. All of a sudden - not number ones, not number twos, but number THREE's  It was at that moment I had to make a critical decision in my life as my wife demanded that I help her. Without a second thought I turned on my heel and headed straight for the water. Cool crystal-clear water soothed my weary mind, body and soul. I didn't even bother about snorkling out to the traditional descent point, I just fell slowly down and welcomed clean blue 20+metre viz with heaps of baitballs and a quiet I haven't heard in a long time. I just let the water take me from then on...
